Admissions > Process
After the initial consultation and acceptance to the program, students are given a thorough academic assessment. After the initial assessment, the student is prescribed a Strategic Academic Action Plan.
- First, a potential student for the MAI program is clinically recommended, or referred for an educational interview
- Next, the client fills out an application. This gives the Director of Education some insight into the client’s educational history prior to the interview.
- The potential student is interviewed by the Director of Education, either in person or by phone.
- If the student is accepted into the program, he or she will begin the enrollment process into one of the many colleges in the Orange County area. The registration is handled by the MAI staff and requires very little on the part of the student. Our goal is to make the registration and enrollment process as easy as possible to allow our students the time to work on their treatment program.
- The student is then enrolled in classes. Class load depends on many factors. Some students take four classes, and others take only one or two. The classes depend entirely upon the outcome of the educational interview. Each class is chosen based on the graduation or general interest needs of the student.
- Students attend orientation. During orientation all the students beginning the semester are given their new treatment/school schedules, their books and supplies, and introduced to the entire MAI Team. To view the orientation powerpoint please click on the link.
- Students begin classes! Students are driven to and from their classes. Groups, lectures on addiction and education, and individual therapy begins!
