Admissions > Criteria
Potential MAI students must first be recommended by their primary case managers at Morningside Recovery or their counselor/therapist from their primary treatment facility. Each potential MAI student is then interviewed by the Director of Education. If the client is then approved for the program, he or she will be admitted to the program.
There is no minimum amount of time sober to enter the program. Clients have entered the program with 10 days sober and over one year sober. Acceptance to the program depends largely on whether the clinical team and educational staff think it would benefit the client.
Some of our most amazing success stories are from clients who have failed in numerous other programs, relapsed repeatedly in traditional treatment programs, but then found meaning, direction, and sobriety in the MAI program.
Clients do not need to have had any formal education to enter the program. Clients have entered the program without their high school diploma and with graduate degrees. We fit the program to the client’s current educational goals.
